Turning Uncertainty Into Advantage

Recently, I joined Courtney Holm on the Home Edit: Up Your Impact podcast to talk about a shift I believe is fundamentally reshaping enterprise decision-making: the move from reporting risk to deciding under uncertainty.
For the last 30 years, most enterprise systems were built for a relatively stable world. Optimisation was largely about efficiency, scale and cost reduction. But we are no longer operating in that environment.
Today, disruptions are structural and continuous. Climate volatility, geopolitical fragmentation, supply chain instability, energy transitions and regulatory divergence are no longer isolated events — they are interconnected forces that cascade across the global economy simultaneously.
And yet, despite more data, more dashboards and more consultants than ever before, organisations still struggle to act decisively.
That’s because we no longer have a data problem.
We have a decision problem.

The buyer was usually the sustainability team. And the intelligence rarely reached the people making operational or financial decisions. But the market has shifted.
Today, procurement leaders, operations teams, boards and investors are asking a different question entirely: How do we protect resilience, margins and competitiveness in a world of constant disruption? That requires a different architecture.
